About Raz Toor

I’m an Ontario business lawyer and the founder of Falcon Law PC. I work with entrepreneurs, business owners and professionals on the legal decisions behind starting, operating, buying and selling businesses.

My practice includes business acquisitions, commercial agreements, privacy documentation and technology-related contracts. I work with organizations in areas including healthcare, professional services and online business. Each has different operational pressures, but the legal work starts with understanding what the owner is trying to accomplish.

The work behind the documents

A business purchase can involve questions about software, customer information and supplier arrangements as well as the purchase agreement. A website review can require a closer look at how a business collects information and what outside platforms receive it. These connections are part of what makes the work interesting to me.

I help clients examine the legal issues within the agreed scope, understand their options and decide on next steps. Where a question requires technical, tax or other specialist input, it is important to recognize that boundary rather than treat the contract as the whole answer.

My approach to the work

I like understanding how a business actually works before discussing what its documents should say. The right questions often reveal an issue that a standard agreement or checklist would miss.

I also understand that advice has to be usable. Owners need to know what matters, what can wait and what their next step should be. That is the kind of advice I aim to provide.

A business owner as well as a lawyer

Outside my legal practice, I own Superior Studios, an event venue in Mississauga. Running a physical, customer-facing business has given me another perspective on customer expectations, marketing, premises and operating costs. Those experiences inform my writing about business ownership.

Falcon Law’s website explains the firm’s legal services and provides service-focused resources. This site is more personal. It is where I can explore a question, explain my reasoning and share lessons from the work of building and operating businesses.

Privacy and technology

I’m particularly interested in how organizations can use technology without losing sight of their responsibilities to customers, employees and the people whose information they hold.

My current privacy and technology work includes documentation and contractual questions. My writing focuses on how organizations use information, choose vendors and introduce AI tools. I am particularly interested in the gap between a policy on paper and the decisions people make during an ordinary working day.

I want the writing here to be specific enough to be useful: the questions to ask, the assumptions worth challenging and the limits of a proposed approach. Legal explanations should identify the relevant jurisdiction and distinguish an obligation from a practical recommendation. Opinion pieces should make clear where I am expressing a personal view.
